Thousands of Utahns showed up in mass numbers their message, “refugees are welcome here.” Those in attendance were born and raised in the US, some were refugees themselves, the protestors marched on the Utah Capitol this afternoon to protest, and stand in solidarity with those effect by President Trumps executive order. Among the attendees Mayor J. Biskupski came out in support of the rally. “It is my duty and honor to protect this beautiful legacy [immigration], and I will. –I can build a working relationship with the current administration back in D.C., but I will not do it at the expense of the people who live here,” said Mayor Biskupski this Saturday at the protest.

The executive order¬†announced by President Trump on January 27, is a temporary ban on seven predominately Muslim countries. Some are calling it racists, “Fear is a very poor motivator, we need to reach out and be compassionate,” said one of the protesters who did not identify herself, “we are repeating stuff… and we know better.”

The real question is who’s policy is it anyway? A statement from President Trump;

My policy is similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months. The seven countries named in the Executive Order are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror.
