Utah– Video of Elephant being rode at Davis Co. Fair

A Facebook user shared a video on Utah Animal Rights Coalition (UARC) facebook page showing what appears to be a elephants ‘keeper’ hit the back of the elephant’s legs to keep the animal walking in circles as it gave fairgoers rides. UARC is known for speaking out against the use of wild animals at Utah’s legendary theme park, Lagoon. There’s been a long history of brutality towards the majestic and mighty elephant for performance and transportation. The brutality came to a head this year after Ringling Bros. Circus announced it would phase out elephants.

But that didn’t stop this year’s Davis County Fair from using exotic wild animals for entertainment. I have reached out to Davis CO. via Facebook and am waiting for comment. Davis County Fair also features captive Californian and South African sea lions this year, they call it “sea lion splash.”
